Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse

About

In 1980, Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse (ATVP) was formally organized by a concerned group of community members to provide support and safety for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and non-offending family members and friends. ATVP is a private, non-profit organization governed by a community-based board. Services are provided to Whitman and Latah county residents free of charge, confidentially and without discrimination. Services include 24-hour telephone or in-person crisis intervention; emergency, confidential shelter; legal and medical advocacy; individual and group support; information and referral; and community education. In 2010 ATVP celebrated its 30-year anniversary of providing services to residents of the Palouse.

Hello,

Nearly two years ago, through the Alternative Service Break program at the University of Idaho, I participated in helping with repairs at one of your safe homes in Pullman. As a resident assistant for Housing & Residence Life, I also became familiar with your organization as a suicide hotline and resource for people suffering from mental health issues. This is to say that I really appreciate the work you do.

I'm now in a course where we need to volunteer for an NGO in our community. I was wondering if you qualified as an NGO under US Code 501(c)(3), because of all of the organizations on GivePulse I could work with for this assignment, I'd be happy if it could be yours.

Best,
David
